Pristine collectible set of vintage Sterling Silver Hand-Engraved Conchos by Visalia. This set is comprised of 2 conchos the same size with a diameter of 1 3/8". Each concho is stamped on the back with the word "Sterling" and the initials "SF, Visalia Stock Saddle Co". These conchos are being sold as a set and cannot be separated.
These conchos have never been used and are in prisine condition.
The Visalia Stock Saddle Company was founded in 1870, after D.E. Walker purchased the shop from the original designer, Juan Maratrel. Anything that is truly authentic has been stamped with "D.E. Walker" or "Visalia".
Conchos were used originally by the Spanish Vaqueros and were known as "Spanish Ornamentation". The vaquero was very proud of the individual way he and his horse "dressed" and each individual added the conchos to his clothing and all accessories such as bridles,saddles, belts, spur straps and hats. |
