Item Number: T001

Price: $2000.00

This version of a Tomahawk is called a Pipe Hawk.  This Pipe Hawk replica has a head made of brass with a steel tip blade and maker's mark on wide edge of the blade.  The carved wooden handle has a classic design up by the head and rows of brass studs accenting the carved areas.

The above Pipe Hawk has a round bowl that is typical of the 1750 French Style.  Native americans already used a stone axe head but military and traders introduced them to the metal tomahawk head which was used by the military and colonial's in their everyday lives.  Much more durable than the stone heads they were using it greatly enhanced their hunting abilities. These didn't break or chip, were more balanced and easier to throw along with being able to sharpen the edge.

The tomahawk is still a popular item today.  Historical re-enactment groups have competitions with tomahawk throwing which is a category of knife throwing.  The tomahawk is also used in camping, hunting and by today's military.  In camping/hunting it is used instead of a hatchet as it is lightweight and usually have a spike or hammer end making them the perfect multi-use tool.  Some army units still carry a tomahawk.
